*Inquired about domestic adoption of an older child and
referred for Colombian International Adoption
*Met a friend at a Bible Study from Colombia
Summer 2013
*Started looking for different agencies that handle
Colombian adoptions and talking with friends that had adopted from Colombia or
adopted older children from China.
*Considered hosting an orphan for the summer from the
Phillipines or meeting some hosted Colombian orphans in the Chicago area.
*Found Eddie on the Wide Horizons waiting child list.
*Kept inquiring to see if adopting from Colombia would be a
good fit for our family.
*Started online adoption classes
Fall 2013
*Met with local agency.
Applied, interviewed, began homestudy.
November 2013
*Matthew found out we were inquiring into adoption. Begins talking nonstop about it. Saying things like ,"We will have to teach him that when he has a bad dream in the night, he can call for you and Dad."
December 2013
*Final visit with local agency. Passed home inspection.
*Purchased/acquired Spanish books and textbooks, videos.
February 2014
*Home study completed and sent on for state approval.
*Waiting and working on next steps for upcoming Immigration
and Colombia government requirements (Dossier):
psychological evaluation, more fingerprinting, certificates notarized
and certified.
*Began fundraising planning and held Discovery Toy Party
Fundraiser.
March 2014
*Plan to submit completed homestudy, apply for grants and
submit next steps of paperwork and requirements.
*Lynn may travel to Colombia to meet Eddie in April.
Summer 2014
*Hopefully hear about our acceptance from the Colombian
government.
*Colombian breakfast fundraiser and silent auction.
Late Summer/Fall 2014
*Travel to get Esneider.
Stay in Colombia 4-6 weeks.
Finalize adoption in US.
